Upgraded to the Eonon GM5150 from the D5150. First I must say I was pretty happy with the D5150 but I really liked the new UI Eonon did with the GM5150. After receiving the unit I noticed right away Eonon listened to our feedback and lengthened the RCA wires and included a 90 degree iPod cable. These two additions make the install way easier! The RCA wires on the original D5150 were 75mm and on the new GM5150 they are 140mm's. Also there is a small black pad underneath the unit, this is there for a reason do not remove. This actually helps keep the unit sitting more secure in the dash. Simple but effective solution.
The biggest differences I have noticed from the D5150 is the Orange LED's to match the BMW dash. The Bluetooth Mic works really good. I tested a call and it came in loud and clear, I even put my finger over the Mic hole on the unit and there was NO difference in the call quality! The new UI is the biggest thing I really like about the GM5150. Every screen was redesigned and looks so much better. Small tweaks like moving the dimming button to the far left instead of the center, easier to reach while driving. The remote control is a leap forward from the old one, way to go Eonon! The clock size was reduced and moved to the far left and can be turned off if desired.
Here are a few minor issues:
1- The clock won't keep correct time.
(Set to GPS sync and the correct time zone)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Time_Zone
2- The unit goes to A2DP music streaming on most start ups.
(Turning Auto Connect Off Corrects this)
I experimented with three different radio antenna adapters to address the radio reception issue. The one that comes from Eonon works best without the Blue wire connected.
The adapter I had previously used with the D5150 was slightly better, the 40-EU10. The one I found that works the best and eliminated most of static and weak reception is 40-EU55 the. It's for 2002 and up BMW's with powered antennas and newer Facra style antennas and is approx $13.
Adapter is a Metra 40-EU55

Installing the 5150 requires a relocation bracket. This part cost approx $85 from ECSTuning. There are two different ones available depending on which button console you have. This part is needed for lowering the AC controls down below making room for the 5150 on top. When you relocate the heater / AC controls what you want is BMW part number 51167001410, ECS part ES#82727.
Here's more information about the differences between the two "single cutout" mounting brackets...
51167001410 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51167001410/ES82727/): Single cutout version w/ smoker's package
51167001408 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51167001408/ES82726/): Single cutout version non-smoker's package
The non-smokers package allows for easy installation of the front storage compartment 51168208369 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51168208369/ES86731/) and does not include the LED light. You can retrofit the compartment tray into a smokers unit but there's a little tab that needs to be cut out.
Cigarette lighter block off plug 51168222183 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/Lighter_Cigarette_Lighter_Block-Off_Plug/ES86890/).
Functionally either one will work but if you get the wrong one you will have a gap in the lower corners.

Two videos on how to take apart the dash and remove the Stereo, AC controls and Storage bin. Here is a helpful tip for removing the center vent, use two plastic cards (old credit cards/store membership cards) and slide them into the top left and right corners of the center vent. This will release both clips.

The older D5150's did not have the Orange LED's to match the dash, the newer batch did. Eonon states this cannot be added by a firmware update. The newer batch also addressed issues the original units had which made the install difficult such as really short RCA's and the straight iPod adapter and a upgraded Can Bus V2.
The GM5150 adds New OEM BMW UI, Screen Mirroring, NFC URC, 7 LED button Colors including Orange.

Gary, did Eonon fix issues for people who have OE Navigation? This is one reason I ended up not installing the Eonon unit I had.....the 5M extension cable was advertised to work for my OE equipped Navi ZHP but in actuality, did not work at all...
The radio wiring for OE Navigation equipped BMWs are in the back where the BM53 radio unit is mounted, not in front where BMWs with the Business CD radio is mounted....
Until this issue is fully resolved, I'm resorted to keeping my OE Navi setup :facepalm

Ditto on Colin's car. Also wonder about any improvements to the mic and volume (ability to turn to zero). I'm sure there will be plenty of updates on e46f.

To be completely honest I'm not sure. Beings I do not have factory Navigation I don't follow those posts. If I remember correctly a few guys over on E46Fanatics did install these in place of the factory Nav but it was alot more involved as far as wiring goes.
My Mic quality was pretty good from the beginning. After a few of us addressed the Mic issues we found that some Mic's were mounted flush with the circuit board which is approx 3/8" away from the Mic hole in the faceplate. My Mic was mounted 3/8" off the board which put it right behind the faceplate. On my unit I ended up enlarging the Mic hole slightly which made a big difference. One member did a sweet DIY on how to add a adapter to plug in a external Mic.
The volume control issue is corrected with a firmware update.
I'm thinking up upgrading to the GM5150 from my D5150 and will provide some feedback if I go that route.
I also posted a video showing the GM5150 in action in my first post.

I've read that through several times. That info gave me the confidence to buy this unit. I wasn't planning on doing the rear view camera but that might be a good option since I basically have limo tint on the back window.

A few of us were the first owners of the D5150 and had several issues with the unit. The Can Bus being one and the install being a PITA. I did the 5150 Install thread to try and help others avoid going thru what I did. I posted the same one over on E46Fanatics and Carlos from Eonon contacted me directly to thank me for it and welcomed feedback on the unit. He even wanted me to join the EPIP program Eonon has, basically giving feedback on newly released units. Over a few months we were able to get them to address the short RCA wires, Orange LED buttons to match the BMW dash, Mic issues, Can Bus, 90 degree iPod cable, UI, and several other minor tweaks.
The GM5150 incorporates these fixes plus several added features. Should be a sweet Nav unit! If you need any help send me a PM.

Your Welcome. Not sure if Eonon is addressing issues that OEM Nav guys are having installing their units or not. Here is a post from a member over on E46Fanatics that installed the D5150 in place of his OEM Nav.
Completely compatible. BE WARNED: Not easy, however.
Our connections are in the rear driver's quarter panel.
You need a 5 meter (FOURTY PIN. 40-PIN), (NOT NOT NOT NOT A 17-pin) "fakra" cable, and you will lose automatic-dimming unless you tap into a wire that is only hot when the parking lights are on.
You will need to hack off the Ibus connector for the iBus integration. I have lost volume increase with speed and if "LOUD" is checked, even at level 1, the Eonon is loud.. I mean, not hear the person in the passenger seat loud. I have some idea that this is due to the higher output levels going into the HK Amplifier. A problem which I plan on bypassing with aftermarket amplifiers as the Eonon unit has more than enough outputs to handle multiple aftermarket amps.
It is a lot of work. You will be pulling either your entire center console, back seat, and all related trim, or you will be pulling your Driver's side kick molding, the door sill, the rear armrest panel, and the rear seat.
On some "good" news" You don't have to find a place to stuff the 40-pin connector like those with the business radio.
On some "bad, bad" news, you CANNOT POSSIBLY use the iPod connector as it is (There simply isn't enough room due to the cold weather package's METAL housing DIRECTLY behind the radio with ZERO clearance), and you also have to get creative if you want FM radio. You see, OUR European connector is in the trunk (Again, same location as the 40-pin). So, you need a Zero-radius Motorola plug, to an extension plug, to the European plug in the rear. It's a HUGE pain in the ass. I WISH it was just integrated into the "fakra" cable.
Currently, I have ZERO Over-the-air FM stations. It's very, VERY cold here in Michigan, and I will not be pulling brittle plastic pieces apart in this weather. My Eonon is in, and functional (For USB/CD/Bluetooth) and that's well enough for me.
I am VERY disappointed in the unit, however. The menus are not intuitive at all, the hardware is marginal at best, and the fit is somewhat less than desirable. The RCA-out levels are too low to be of real use, and the "EQ" is laughable.

One thing you have to consider is the price. Eonon is $400, Dynavin is $900, Factory Nav is approx $2500. For the price the Eonon unit is worth it in my opinion. It's a big improvement over the Business CD.

Actually Gary... Both the Dynavin and Eonon units provide more current functionalities than the factory Navigation. As you pointed out, the Eonon is the better buy at $400. This is why I was interested...
For those who have the factory navigation, this is it unless you're willing to do further research to include tracing wiring via wiring diagrams and verifying connections for the 5M cable all match up properly (pin for pin).
This is one problem I ran into when I tried to swap out my factory Nav for the Eonon unit at Kyle's OBX meet a few months ago.
Another thing to be aware of for those of you with factory Nav.... the 5M extension wiring harness has to have a radio antenna extension since the actual radio unit resides in back along with the MkIV navi computer (I found this out as I was installing the Eonon retrofit - it never occurred to me to verify this on the 5M wiring harness before ripping everything out). The 5M harness I got and was told would work with my factory Nav did not have the radio antenna extension to route to the Eonon unit....total fail...
Anyone with Nav takes on this project be sure to detail (pics and links) how you were able to do a successful retrofit. It will be greatly appreciated by others with Nav who are looking to upgrade for newer functionalities that either the Dynavin or Eonon are able to provide....
Currently, these two units are primarily made for cars with the Business CD radio installed...

For those interested, I still have copies of Igo Primo's 2.4 - version 9.6.13.267029 and 2013 maps. Hit me up and I can send you:
1) Ready to Go version - simply unzip and copy into SD card or...
2) Raw data with instructions to customize to your liking (you can tailor which maps, language, text-to-speech, skins, etc...). It is more complicated and you're more likely to mess something up, so if you can't follow the directions - I suggest the #1 version.
Alternatively, if you can inform me of an updated version and updated maps, I'll look up those and download them for you. Right now I believe I still have the latest version... Also I'm open to other nav software suggestions.

Sweet! I'm impressed how fast they get these things over here with free shipping. I didn't get hit with customs fees either. Did you on your other one?
I'm considering knocking this out one evening after work. Based on the videos it looks like this could be done in a couple of hours. Is that accurate based on your experience? I'm not running RCAs, will use the internal bluetooth mic and will run an ipod in my glovebox so it "should" be a plug and play.
WOLFN8TR

No fees on the first one.
I would say approx 3 hours if all goes smooth. That's with No Backup Camera.
The biggest issue is getting the center vent off. I used two plastic cards (Von's Rewards cards) and pushed them in the top two corners to release the clips, then pulled out the bottom and hold it why pulling the two cards out and it came right out. It is easy with two people.
The only other thing is the AC relocation bracket install and wether or not Eonon's new Antenna/iPod cables let the unit sit flush or not. You might have to do some trimming or get new ones like I did. I know they started supplying 90 degree iPod cables so that should be fine. The antenna cable might be the only issue. I had issues getting all the RCA wires out if the way because they were too short, Eonon made them longer on the newer units.
The GPS antenna can be mount up inside the dash or in the corner up on top.
FYI: Test the unit before installing it in the dash just incase there is an issue. Also Super Glue all of the rubber RCA caps on. If you don't they can come off and cause feedback in the system.
brewer90
01-13-2014, 02:21 PM
Thanks for the tips. I think I'll tackle this in two parts. I'll work on releasing the dash vent and RCA cap gluing tonight and then start the install tomorrow. I ordered the metra antenna cable you linked to and did receive the 90 degree ipod cable with the unit. There are a ton of RCA cables. I also noticed two USB cables back there.
No backup camera install planned yet. I think I'll mount the gps receiver in the dash. It also looks like we have a wireless transmitter/receiver that needs to be mounted. I plan to stick it somewhere behind the glovebox.

Well so far the GM5150 is 10 times better than the D5150! I'm digging this unit! The new UI is sweet, the Bluetooth works great! I even put my finger over the Mic hole on the 5150 and my wife couldn't even notice the difference. The Orange LED's match the BMW dash. I also eliminated most of the radio reception issues. I bought several different antenna adapters to experiment with to try and fix the radio reception. The one that comes with the unit from Eonon works best without the Blue wire hooked up. This one I bought on eBay for $13 corrects approx 80% of the reception problems.

WOLFN8TR

Take the glove box out. There is a perfect flat spot back there to mount it. I used a small piece of 3M tape and stuck it there. Also it helps with routing the cables up out of the way.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/19/ymadybyv.jpg
I zip tied the RCA wires into two groups and tied them up to the front metal radio bracket. This helps keep you from having to hold them all along with everything else during the install. Push the main wiring plug up to the left behind the vent. Look at my D5150 Install thread for more usefull tips, link is in my sig.
Also don't remove that black piece of foam rubber underneath the unit as it helps keep the unit sit flush in the dash.

Yeah, this is nice only if it's verified to be completely 100% with navigation equipped cars. The one I got (40 pin) was "advertised" to be 100% compatible and did not work....and for our cars it is the 40-pin connector....
Worse case, I'm willing to go w/o radio since I pretty much never listen to it anyway...but the 5M cable has to work otherwise this is a total bust for us Navi equipped cars....

Hi Gary, thanks for your Eonon posts here and on e46f!
I have a few questions, and although they may be buried somewhere, I haven't found clear answers. I'm hoping that you can provide some clarity for me.
(1) I've invested quite a lot of money into a BSW S1 plus sub system, so I'm committed to the stock Harmon Kardon crossover and amplifier. How will this unit work with the stock HK system?
(2) do I need any additional components (such as Line Out Converters)?
(3) do I retain full fader capability?
(4) how is the sound quality of the GM5150 compared to the stock Business head unit?
(5) how does the "screen mirror" work - if I mirror my iPod screen, can I control the iPod through the Eonon touch screen as if it were the iPod? Or is it simply a display?
(6) if I don't buy the maps extra, is there still a good way to use the unit for navigation? are decent maps available free/cheap on the internet?
Thanks a bunch for your answers!!

Not familiar on exactly how the BSW S1 sub system is wired. It does work good with the stock HK system. I had the Business CD with the HK system and it sounds great.
(2) do I need any additional components (such as Line Out Converters)?
No, it's plug and play. Never heard of anyone needing a Converter yet. Replacing the stock Nav you need an additional wiring harness.
(3) do I retain full fader capability?
Yes
(4) how is the sound quality of the GM5150 compared to the stock Business head unit?
Big improvement over stock.
(5) how does the "screen mirror" work - if I mirror my iPod screen, can I control the iPod through the Eonon touch screen as if it were the iPod? Or is it simply a display?
Screen Mirroring as far as I understand is used as a larger display. I have an iPhone 4 so it doesn't support mirroring and cannot verify.
(6) if I don't buy the maps extra, is there still a good way to use the unit for navigation? are decent maps available free/cheap on the internet?
Don't pay for the Kudos maps from Eonon. I had problems with Kudos being even close to accurate. I have Igo Primo 2.4 running on my GM5150 and it works great. If you get a unit let me know and I will help you out.
Thanks a bunch for your answers!!

Without maps. Reason being is when I ordered my D5150 the Kudos maps sucked. I ended up using Igo Primo 2.4 and it works good. Alot of guys are having really good luck with Igo 8. Look over on E46Fanatics for the GM5150 group buy.

Thanks! I have wanted the nav option right in the stereo for a while. Right now, I have the business cd with aux in. I have a car dock for my galaxy s2 suctioned to the windshield and I use the gps on that along with pandora or my own stuff on the phone for music. I don't see my galaxy s2 on the list for screen mirroring, which kind of sucks... I really like pandora. I'm curious about this thing's ability to use the wifi radio. Can you connect to any wireless network with it to get internet access? Is there anything built in that could use internet access?

From Eonon on e46fanatics:
Tampa330i, the samsung galaxy s2 doesn't have the miracast function so that it can't realize the full screen mirroring function. But it suppport the DLNA, which can sync any videos, music, pics from your phone to our unit easily. Also quite convenient to use!
The screen sharing is pretty important to me. Being able to use pandora for music and google nav for gps is the selling point. I've had this phone for almost 4 years and now I have a reason to upgrade :shifty . Pretty sure I'm going to get this. Other than the radio mounting bracket, is there anything else I absolutely need to install it? And to double check I have the correct bracket, it's http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330i-M54_3.0L/Interior/Dashboard/ES82727/ right? I have a single row for buttons, smokers package. Hmmm. No I don't Tony as I haven't even installed my camera yet. I have two of them, one from Eonon that mounts on the license plate and the other one that goes where the license plate light is. I've heard several guys saying the newer version of the GM5150 doesn't need the reverse wire even hooked up, the unit senses when in reverse and turns on the screen automatically. Also Eonon includes an external Mic now!

I never really use the eonon for Bluetooth. I have it set up to wire the iPod connection with a lighting adapter to the center console and just play music. Call it a day :)
The thing about the camera that I will be doing is ordering the camera from eonon with the wireless transmitter. I can't seem to route the wires without tearing them apart with the hanger method. Such a pain everything when I change between different cameras. I also realize if I switch on my rear fogs that it gives the camera enough power to have a clear camera when the lights are on.

Make sure you order a Metra 40-EU55 Antenna Adapter. It gets better reception than the supplied adapter from Eonon and will allow the unit to sit flush. Hook up the Blue wire.

I think I see where this is coming from. The blue wire on the harness I got says POW-ANT and is a female style connection. There is a second blue/white wire on the harness labeled SW1. The blue wire on the EU-55 antenna also has a female connection. Would it be correct to assume one of these should be stripped and inserted into the other? Here's my harness and the EU-55 wires:

Yes connect it to the Blue Power ANT wire. I would use different connectors than what is supplied as they don't stay connected very good.
Tampa330i
05-31-2014, 01:09 PM
I just finished my install. For that blue wire, I ended up cutting part of the connector off on the antenna side and it became a nice male fit to the female harness wire. I tested the reception, works perfectly in the garage. I opted not to hook up the external mic, the ipod, or usb cables. I never use my phone in the car to talk, won't ever buy an apple product, and have no need for usb in there. I hooked up the wifi & gps antennas just like you did.
I tested miracast, which is good but not what I expected. I'll still need to access my phone to navigate apps. When the screen shuts off from inactivity, the mirroring on the gm5150 goes blank(sound continues to transmit). Unless the phone is in landscape mode, it's too small on the display. Looks like I will need to get a dock for my phone since the s2's dock doesn't fit the s4. Bluetooth synced up just fine. I noticed there seems to be an sd card slot on each side - is one specifically for gps and the other for file storage? I'm still waiting on an answer from eonon for the file system the card should be formatted in to load gps files. You don't happen to know that, do you? I'm assuming either fat or ntfs since it's windows ce. I am somewhat tired after the installation so I haven't gone through the setup menu or anything else.
Replacing that dash bracket below the radio was the least fun part. If you have an automatic, the shifter needs to be in drive to have enough room to get it in and out. To even get to the screws on the bottom of the bracket, you need to remove the plate around the shifter, then remove the window switch plate. Once you get it out, you'll need a very small torx bit to remove the buttons from it. I didn't have one that small, so I used a pair of pliers to wrench them out and then back into the new one. If you have the smoker package, you also have to remove the lighter(metal cylinder the lighter plugs into) and ashtray and put those in the new bracket as it does not come with them.

The SD slot on the Left is for music/movies and the one on the Right is for the GPS. Both can handle up to 16GB. The Nav has to be formatted in FAT32, recommend using a Class 10 SD card. I have a good copy of Igo Primo 2.4 if you are interested I could make a copy and send it to ya just pay for the new 8GB Class 10 SD card.

I charge my iphone via the usb + lighting adapter. Works fine there. I do think it's just a 1 amp and would not be strong enough to charge a ipad.
Tampa330i
06-02-2014, 03:05 AM
I figured I would need to get a charger because of the s4's ridiculous thirst for power. Technically it can charge with less than 2 amps, but it'll be quite slow or even drain faster than it charges supposedly. I need to figure out a solution to get the phone mounted somewhere, get enough power to it, and the hardest part is forcing it into dock mode so the screen goes landscape and stays there. If the phone display isn't on 100% of the time and in landscape mode, screen mirroring is worthless imo.
I got igo 8 from... online sources. It is much more than I'm used to in a GPS app. Coming from just using g maps on my phone, this adds a ton of features. I tested it out driving over to a spot I've used with google gps and it gave me the exact same route. A really awesome feature - traffic camera known locations are pre-built into it(and you can add your own), how cool is that? It's extremely customizable. The GPS is getting full bars with the antenna in that spot. My girlfriend says it sounds like a nagging wife since it audibly warns you if you're speeding(can be turned off).

Gary, until either Dynavin or Eonon comes up with their own 5M extension cabling this won't work. Remember I tried to retrofit an Eonon unit with an "approved" 5m extension cable for navi equipped cars and the cable did not work.
For one, the "approved" 5m cable I got for navi equipped cars, did not have a radio antenna wire so I could not connect the radio antenna (in back with the BM53 radio unit) to the harness and then connect to the Eonon unit in front. When I had the cable connected, verified by others at the OBX meet a last year the radio would not power on.
So there are still issues that exist and have not been validated by either Dynavin or Eonon..... This is something I would have loved to do for my ZHP but unfortunately couldn't.

Gary, there were two problems with the 40-pin 5M extension cable I had. First it didn't have a radio antenna extension cable in the harness to allow connection of the ratio antenna in back from the BM53 radio location to the front where the Eonon head unit will be. Second, for some reason the wiring was not correct because when everything was first/second checked to ensure everything was connected securely, power would not come on when power was pressed.
From the links you have provided, it still does not show that either wiring harness has the radio antenna wiring so in either case, you wouldn't be able to make the connection for the radio antenna since the antenna connection is actually located in back on all navi equipped cars.

Just got my iPhone 6 yesterday and tried it on my GM5150. I can stream music via the Bluetooth A2DP. Playing music thru the iPod cable the song is displayed but when you change the song from either the steering wheel controls or the 5150 the song info doesn't change even thou the song does. Then after a minute or so you get the dreaded "Launch.exe error". Then I get the Blue screen! Also the song list takes forever to populate.
I was able to close the Launch error and reboot the unit with no issues yet. I use my iPod input 75% of the time and would hate to loose that option along with being able to charge my iPhone. Hopefully Eonon will come out with a Firmware update to address this problem. :facepalm

No worry I'll try my best to help you. I've asked our tech.
1. It's normal that the ipod function of Eonon can't be compatible wth iphone 6 currently. You can use bluetooth audio function instead.
2. If you listen to the ipod for most of the time, you can try to change to listen to CD, or bluetooth audio music, or the USB/SD music.
3. For the launch.exe error, pls kindly download the software here to have a try:

Here is the Upgrade Method:
A. Format the SD card.
B. Depress the folders and copy them to the blank SD card.
C. Insert the SD card to GPS slot of the unit.
D. Reboot the unit, then the upgrade is finished.
Notice:
- PLEASE DO NOT CUT OFF THE POWER WHILE UPDATING. Otherwise the unit will be broken suddenly.
4. It's normal that iphone can't be charged.
Hope it helps, pls kindly get the software to have a try, thanks!

Not that Eonon/Avin/Dynavin is saying the 5M cable is not working....when I purchased an Eonon unit, they didn't manufacture a 5M extension cable and I had to order a separate 5M cable that was advertised to work.... back then I should have known something wasn't right :facepalm
I didn't want to spend the cash on a Dynavin unit as they were running upwards of $700 for their head unit....so I opted for the Eonon instead. During the OBX meet last year, I drove down and decided to do the Eonon install there. I had taken all my OE Navigation components out and installed the Eonon unit. All the necessary connections were made and I ran the 5M cable I purchased from another vendor (don't remember who now) and made all the final connections. When it came time to turn on the head unit, nothing happened. We rechecked the connections and made sure everything was solid. Retested and it was still unsat so I ended up taking everything out and reinstalling my OE gear.
After going thru all that, I'm not inclined to do this again until there is confirmation as to which 5M cable can be used with the Eonon unit which makes it fully functional for BMWs that come with Navigation....
Tony, it was not that the cable was incorrectly connected.... I think I know how to connect electrical cabling. I've done this many times before in my BMWs. I was also taking my time so that I would not forget any crucial steps during the install. It came down to the wiring of the 5M cable being incorrect which is why nothing worked. I was lucky nothing else got shorted out in the install process since the wiring on that extender cable was incorrect....

I just followed the instructions. Connect via wifi and AirPlay over a video. That's all I tried when I installed the one for my coworker.
Got it to work with my iPhone 6! Pretty cool feature. Using Google maps mirrored to the Eonon is pretty cool. Also the music with cover flow is sweet but it lacks the sound quality the 30 PIN connection provides.
Skip to 1:30 for the iPhone tutorial.

Finally got my GM5150 today from the e46f.c seller.
I feel like I'm missing a few cables, he is telling me they aren't normally included.
iPod 30 pin adaptor is really the only one I'm interested in... did anyone who has this get one with their unit or did Eonon not include originally?
WOLFN8TR

Seth the Eonon GM5150 comes with the iPod 30 PIN cable and all other necessary cables so he isn't correct. The iPod cable has to be a 90 degree bend coming out the back of the unit otherwise it hits the dash and impedes the unit from sitting flush. The Eonon 90 degree cable turns downward on the back of the unit and the cables I listed below are longer and turn towards the drivers side. You have to slightly trim the cable that turn towards the drivers side as they will hit the antenna cable. So you have a few options.
1. Order the 90 degree cable from Eonon.
2. Ask around on E46Fanatics if someone didn't use theirs.
3. Order these 3 cables and trim the 90 degree end.

Pretty sure this is the iPod 30 PIN to 8 DIN cable you need.

If you don't have this antenna adapter I would buy one, it gets the best reception, hook up the Blue wire. If you use the Eonon one you will have to trim it down to fit the unit flush. Also DO NOT hook up the Blue wire on that adapter as it gets worse reception.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/01/tageheju.jpg
The iPod cable turns to the left (drivers side) which is real close to the antenna connection so both cables will need to be trimmed slightly. This isn't necessary but it takes the stress off of the iPod cable beings you have to bend it downward to plug the antenna into the 5150. What you want to trim is the top of the iPod cable where it touch the antenna cable, see below.

I have to say that when it comes to installing these head units, Gary has done a lot of research and "face time" with Eonon thru emails so he has a lot of good info to share with those interested in going this route. A lot has changed in the year since I first attempted to replace my OE Nav setup. I think its now time to look into doing this once again since more info and products have become available to do this right.
I realize that for people who have the OE Nav setup, the install will be different from those who have the Business CD radio. It is not as straight-forward and there will be additional cable extenders (Eonon/Dynavin's 5M and Radio antenna) needed to make things work. When I have everything I need, I still plan to pick Gary's brain to see if there's anything else I need to be aware of before tearing out the OE Nav equipment...
At least I know how to do this since I have done this before...:)

upon ordering, how long did it take for the stuff to get to your door? ECS is close to cinci so getting the new center console relocation piece won't take too long at all and if the only thing else i have to worry about is the eBay antenna wire i should be good to go.
looking at the pictures/info on the unit i can't tell: does the unit come with the 90 degree elbow wire for the iPod through eonon, i can't find it anywhere on their site.

Charlie good talking with you as always. Thanks for all the knowledge and advice! Hopefully this works out or I will be staying at you're place. LoL.
The units ship pretty quick from Eonon. Mine took 4 days which was impressive. The iPod cables are as follows.
GM5150- Comes with the 90 degree that bends down under the unit.
GA5150- The cable is wired directly into the wiring harness plug.
With my D5150 and my GM5150 I had issues with clearance. The Antenna and iPod cable hit the vent behind the dash causing it to not sit flush. I had the first batch of the GM5150's and the iPod cable was straight. After speaking with Carlos from EONON he addressed this and the next batch was with the 90 degree cables. The GA5150 hooks up via the wiring harness.
The only thing I see that might cause clearance issues in their Antenna adapter. So I would get the one I recommended on the first page from Amazon. (use the affiliate link [emoji106]])
If you stay with the Eonon Antenna adapter you will have to trim it down to fit. It's fairly easy to do.

Well I'm dealing with some less than expected sound quality and I think I finally figured it out. At first thought it was the BT audio vs the 30pin but that will only make a slight difference.
The dyanvin actually puts out more power than the Eonon unit to the speakers so my pervious setup was more powerful.
Looks like I need to consider amping or clean sweep EQing this thing.
Has anyone done anything similar?

Ideal option in my opinion Shawn! If you're not using the BMW assist, then you can take out the shark fin internals and possibly fit in the GPS antenna. It all depends if the GPS antenna's profile matches the shark fin profile.

Yes Charlie did say that originally when we did the install on BP's wobz. Reason why the install went quickly was because of the placement of everything and not routing the gps module in a shark fin. Routing the rear camera cables by itself took a good 30-45 minutes itself. So ease of install is nice. :)

My buddy finished the install (and oil change) in about 3 hours this morning. Ended up running the GPS wire to the headliner along with mounting (but not hooking up) the external mic just behind the mirror. the USB hook ups and iPod connection were routed to the glove box (USBs may be moved at a later date). i am SMITTEN with this unit so far. Very user friendly, interface is quick, precise (for the most part, more on that later), and easy to use. everything worked right out of the gate and after I arrived home I made a call to my mother via the bluetooth and she heard me clear as day. I popped a DVD in (The Hurt Locker) and the picture is surprisingly good, ended up sitting in my car watching a whole scene haha.
My ONLY gripe and it may be something I'm fucking up, but when you are listening to your iPod, I'll select "Artists" then select lets say AC/DC. When the band is selected if they have multiple albums, it doesn't go to a screen that shows a list of their albums to then further break it down. It goes straight to a list of ALL the songs not separated out, just one giant list. Any way to fix this is or is it just the way the thing is made?
WOLF is sending me a copy of the GPS software via FedEx or UPS but after that upload, I should be cruising.

If I go into the EQ settings and move the fader or balance over or back a click, all the speakers turn back on/work. As soon as I adjust the volume or change a song the front speakers will turn off again. Any thoughts?
I was going to pull the battery cables off for a few minutes and see if that does anything at all but other than that idk.

Try hitting the reset button on the Eonon unit. Second would be disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
