These are $89.99 for the pair
These are available at the BavAuto website and are being advertised as a $1015.00 discount. I did a price check over on RealOEM and they are listed for $490.95 each.
Not entirely positive the ones I price checked at RealOEM are the same however....because they look different.

Here is the writeup.
Projector beam fog lights for M Technic bumpers on 3 series 99 thru 05 and 5 series 97 thru 03. Not only are these fog lights an upgrade over stock, they cost less. Adjustment screws let you aim them for better illumination of the road. Connectors and H-3 style bulbs included. Some wiring/splicing required. Please note: * round style for M - Technic front spoiler
I've been thinking about getting these...with just the stock halogen bulbs you won't need balasts, correct? So this should just swap with the old units?

How are they HID if they use a halogen bulb? Am I missing something here?

This.
I think they are 8tch-eye-dee projectors. Not sure about the H-3 bulb though.

Looks like they're halogen projectors - not HID.
The Bav Auto page doesn't give a BMW part number nor does it say HID on the description.

Dane believes they are HID projectors. Hmm. Someone may have to call.
what kind of splicing would be required? the halogen would work with my setup.

Khoalty sells these... $90 and he describes them as "Projector Style Fog Lights"

Same exact ones....and I would rather buy from Khoa. I am now assuming they are Halogen.

Regardless....I still they look cleaner. Might be harder to keep clean though.....bugs and what not.....for those of us who drive our cars. Hehe
they don't have a cover over the projector? A rock could easily scrape it and ruin the light output..

Khoa says that Bav Auto sells the same ones as Khoalty.com.
They are H-3 halogen bulbs.
Here is the good news, though: Khoa just told me on the phone that he will offer these lights to my members for $75 + shipping.
Here's how you do it: you will put ZHP MAFIA in the notes at checkout -- and put $75 ZHP MAFIA DEAL. He will then refund the difference between his regular price online and what you guys are getting them for ($75).
This is a ZHPMafia.com exclusive.
Enjoy.

It's one of the perquisites of knowing all of these aftermarket guys (for a decade). I can get deals for us. I have not been concentrating on this aspect of ZHPMafia.com (yet). Been busy working directly on the site itself.

Guys,
If you get the right bulb and ballast for it, it's HID. If you don't, it isn't. Simple as that.
If it's got a ballast, it's an HID unit.
Mine aren't projectors; they are stock fog lights, but I have ballasts, so that makes them HID despite not being projector-style.

$75 is already the hookup price. And it does not require group buy. Win.

"HID" refers to the bulb technology (that requires a ballast), "projector" refers to the type of the light housing itself. Thus, you can have either a HID or halogen bulb in either a projector or non-projector housing. A non-projector housing just has a reflector bowl at the back & lets the light out through a flat piece of glass at the front. A projector "shapes" the light by putting a cutoff & shaped lens at the front, much like a movie/video projector.
See this E46 Fanatics thread (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=820785)for an illustrative example.

Not 100% certain, but I believe there is a difference in a halogen projector and a true HID projector. I'm just recalling stuff from when I had my Acura RSX so I'm not positive.

These are projector style fog lights with a blue H-3 Bulb. I've seen customers retrofit HIDs into them.

Is the $75 deal still available? I may go with these fogs over getting new bulbs if they are much brighter than stock. Are yellow bulbs available for these fogs as well?

Guys/Gals,
You can get the projector fogs from Khoa and then retrofit the HID (using H3 bulbs) lighting to them. I found this link on E46Fanatics which I think I will do for my ZHP when time allows.
The good thing about this retrofit is that you can retrofit the projectors inside the OEM fogs so that you will have an additional layer of protection for the projector lens. I think this is a great solution to the "chipping" issue. :thumbsup

Bumping an old thread... Charlie, would you and Chad be interested in a project day of retrofitting some HID fogs with me? I did this a few years ago on my old car, but left the projectors as they were--never liked the look.
There might be a better way of doing this now, let me know your thoughts...
Here was my old DIY from fanatics a few years ago:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=400630
And someone took it one step further and moved the projectors into the OEM housings:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=440254
So here's what I'd like to do:
- buy new OEM fogs (mine are pitted and destroyed beyond belief).
- buy the aftermarket projector fogs: (cheaper on ebay) http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/3-Series-E46-%281999-2006%29-Lighting/c399_33_35/p414/Projector-Fog-Light-Housing-%28M-tech-Fitment%29/product_info.html
- The aftermarket fogs use H3 bulbs, so I'd need an H3 fog light kit, right? Something like this: http://www.hidnation.com/h3hidkits.html. I want 4300k though so I'd need to look elsewhere for bulbs...
Thoughts?

Steve,

I would be willing to make the drive up, you know that :thumbsup
