I've owned this 2006 Interlagos Blue ZCP for about three weeks and finally got to take it out on the road for a nice drive and put it through some paces. Yesterday, loaded up the family and drove from Long Island to Reading Pa to visit my parents for their 50th anniversary. What a pleasure to drive. Solid, powerful, quick, sturdy and full of everything that is BMW good. The S54 power plant is certainly much much more than capable.
So far I did an oil and filter change with Castro 10W60, full detail and installed RHO front bracket for license plate. Not much else to do except drive this beast as it only just hit 20,000 miles.
Stay tuned for pictures.

Mea Culpa, was down in Pa and could not post pictures. Just returned home. Here are some pictures taken in Pa before her journey back to Long Island:

Upcoming tasks:
1. Send rear view mirror to Radar-Mirror in Texas to fix dimming liquid leak issue.
2. Next Spring/Summer -- need to do Valve Adjustment, full Beisan Vanos refresh, foam sub frame reinforcement.
Need to save up some cash first.

Does it lose the auto dim feature when you send it off to get fixed? Do you even use the auto dim feature? I'm tinted in my cars so never seemed to bother me.

Stealth mirror does remove auto dimming. However, if it is getting fix, I don't see it not working.

Yea, unfortunately this problem appears to happen to a large percentage of the rear view mirrors in these cars. I wonder why? Anyway, The Jakester already is talking about modding her when he gets it. I told him I will have to be six feet under before he messes my baby up.

This is my unicorn ///M :drool :drool :drool
A good friend of mine picked up one just like this and I offered my detailing services to him. It was fun detailing his IB ///M. :) This color, when detailed properly really looks awesome!
Get those grills blacked out....looks even better! :thumbsup

Yes blacked out grills and your studs, Charlie. Just need to get that M savings fund built back up. I'm really enjoying this whip. Although I was sad and pensive to see the ZHP go, I could not be happier with this ZCP M.

Your ZCP is looking great so far! Looking forward to seeing more improvements :) Should get BP to come down and program your ZCP for the trifecta mod and other things ;)

That sounds like a great idea. What exactly are those programming mods? Hell, I would drive to him. I think he is in Conn. Maybe we can all meet up?

Trifecta is all the fogs stay on when high beam is enabled. The halogen highbeam can be enable with the bixenon too. So 3 lights all on at once = trifecta mod.
There are plenty of cool options to enable :)

Indeed, people are chatting you up and encouraging me to ask for your services. To be honest, although I do most if not all the work on my cars, I don't know much about the programming mods but I am very interested. Could you explain in more detail to this noob?

Although my beer fogged brain has trouble recalling what I did 5 minutes ago, I remember April 3, 1992 like it was yesterday. That incredible high, that feeling of a car being completely wrapped around you, responding to your every move and touch, senses overloaded to the edge of nirvana. That was the first time I entered the cockpit of a 1990 Delphin Gray E30. As soon as my ignorant foot allowed that tight clutch to leave the floor and God's chariot lurched forward, I was a full blown addict. A BMW junkie.
I have futilely chased that feeling, that high ever since I foolishly sold my E30 after 180,000 miles and ten years of orgasmic insanity. In 2003, I ignorantly thought I would find that driving experience in a stock e46 330i---it was nice but nothing near the balance and perfection of the e30. Then I found a very, very game 2004 Orient Blue ZHP (yes I still miss seeing that whip in my garage and driving her) and indeed The ZHP took care of many of those e30 itches. Then I acquired an incredibly balanced and nimble e36 M3 and felt some significant tingles but not there yet... I began to think that that feeling, that high was an illusion of youth and I was merely vainly searching through the past for those halcyon times. That April 1992, really never happened and with each year that past my feeble mind was blowing the whole experience way out of proportion.
I was almost about to give in to the weight of the years and how they jaded my once clear perceptions. I was about to surrender and give into the new world of V8s, M4s, forced induction, turbo boosters, automatics, paddle shifters, cushy suspensions, sleek bodys and straight dashboards. Then it happened, I found my unicorn, the creme a la creme the Pièce de résistance, the holy grail... Yes, I found my 2006 Interlagos Blue M3 tightly wrapped in the Competition Package with highlights of the ever elusive CSL ( I say highlights of the CSL so as to not insult Charlie and his sweet "getting close to CSL" M3:))
When I stepped into the cockpit of this beast and gingerly sat down so as not to even brush the pristine bolster, the seat craddled me like its new born and I was instantly transported back to 1992. I felt like I was again in a real driver's cockpit with the dash and instrument panel longingly staring at me in anticipation of my next move. I took a deep breath and turned the key...immediately the feelings, the highs of those incredible and too few E30 miles poured over me.
The highly vaunted naturally aspirated, in line six, S54 engine jumped to life and at first irritibly growled from being wakened then purred softly like a content kitten. Finally, when the clutch left the floor I was absolutely gone...gone I tell you, my gentle ZHP brethren. I could go on and on about the E46M3's acceleration, power, handling, breaking, turning and throaty sound but I think you all know what I'm inarticulately trying to explain. As I rolled along in this incredible machine, tumbling through time, space and my life, I knew I had found the "one" and I instantly realized that I could finally lay my ugly balding melon down somewhere and die content. Amen.

That was one fine story you shared with all of us....very much appreciated :thumbsup Your ///M is one very special unicorn, unfortunately what I have was nowhere near my dream ///M, hence all the special and unique mods being done to her...:thumbsup Eventually, I will make my ///M into that rare unicorn...;)
Yes, that roar of the S54 at 7000-8000k RPM is seriously addicting as the engine yearns to be there....all your senses come alive when the ///M comes alive...it is an amazing experience. There are a few here who have had the pleasure to drive my ///M, some I offered and they still declined (you know who you are!!!) ;) The few who accepted my offer had "that" smile on their face when I told them to mash the gas pedal......I really love seeing expressions of bliss when friends experience the ///M come alive after passing the 7000k RPM mark...only a true enthusiast can appreciate that feeling when it originates from deep within your soul...:thumbsup Thanks for bringing those feelings back out :biggrin

Nice background on your journey with bmw leading to this point in time and Congrats on your newly acquired e46 ZCP! The S54 is a mighty engine and with the addition of CSL like components, I'm sure you'll be impressed. Its an amazing car with brake rotors the size of the wheels on an 2002 haha!
We also have an E46 ZCP in the stable, so welcome to the club!
