All
Next week, I'm going to be doing a full detail on my 2006 Interlagos Blue ZCP M3. The exterior is in very good condition but for some light swirling. Accordingly, I will be doing a paint correct to deal with the swirls. This is the plan:
Wash/Dry
Clay
Meg 105 polish with PC and orange Lake Country pad or cyan hydro tech pad
Meg 205 polish withPC and white Lake Country pad or tangerine hydro tech pad
Klasse High Gloss Sealant
Dodo Juice wax
Do you guys think I should I should use the Lake Country Orange CCS pads or go with the cyan hydro tech pads as meg 105/205 is water based?

Why did you choose the pads that you bought?
I have a bunch of ccs pads that came with my PC so I am just curious.

Lake Country is pretty good. I have both and some generic pads. I like them both equally.

I ended up ordering the Lake Country hydro tech pads (cyan and tangerine). I just did a full detail and paint correction on my e36 M3 and I used the Orange and white CCS pads with the Meg's 105/205 polish. I was very happy with the CCS pads but after some further research I am of the opinion that because I am using the Meg's 105/205 polish combo the hydro tech pads are a better choice. The reason being that the Meg's polishes are water based and the hydro tech pads don't absorb the product so more stays on the paint for a longer period of time. E longer you can keep the product not he paint the better cutting and polishing you will get. I will report as I progress with the detail.

Monk3y, I used the CCS pads with Meg's polish and had fairly decent success. I'm expecting better results and easier and more consistent application with the hydro tech pads, your thoughts?

If you have time, research the Kevin Brown method.
With the hydro pads, this method will work wonders.

Day one is done. Wash and dry then I spent a lot of time on the Megs 105 cutting polish stage. I went slow with the PC and utilized the up and down back and forth method, doing 2x2 sections at a time. I had the PC on level six with the Lake Country Blue hydro tech pad and had incredible results. the only odd thing was that as I finishing with the Megs 105, the Blue pad ripped from the velcro backing and flew across the garage. Never happened to me before. I really am careful not to exert any pressure on the pad and just use the weight of the PC. Wondering if the pad was defective or maybe I wasn't paying attention and pressed down and heated it up?
I then switched to the tangerine pad and did the Megs 205 fine polish with great success. I reduced the speed of the PC to 4 and moved along a bit faster. Used about six different micro towels to keep wiping and buffing the shine. The paint looks beautiful. Ended for the night and am about to open a cold one.

Finally finished. 15 hour detail. Started with light to medium swirling and I was able to reduce the swirling by at least 80 percent. WHen I put the really bright light on the paint, I could still see some surface scratches here and there. A bit aggravating as I was looking for perfection. Oh, well, I will get them next detail. I must say though, that the paint on this car is really beautiful. The Interlagos Blue is an incredible blue in the bright light and as it gets darker the paint turns to almost a plum color. I love it.
Anyway, I decided to experiment and use the Klasse High Gloss Sealant as I've read good things. I found working with the Klasse product a bit difficult. I used the PC and the Crimson Lake Country Pad and applied a very thin layer of sealant. After reading a bunch of information, I decided to leave it dry good before buffing. I had a very tough time buffing the remaining product. Took me about 1.5 to two hours to get it perfect. Then I applied the Dodo Juice Purple Haze. What a great product, goes on easy and buffs off beautifly. It even smells good. Dodo makes great wax, period. I'm hoping the acrylic base sealant and the Dodo juice carnuba wax combo will provide great protection for the winter. We shall see.
Here are some more pictures of todays fun:
