Hello all,
Name is Andrew and I have somewhat of a e46 BMW addiction, well I guess my wife and I both do. Currently we three of them with two of them being ZHP's. Our BMW life started back in 2005 when we bought a 2001 black/black sedan. After we had it for almost 3 years I convinced the wife to trade it on a 325xi black/black touring. She hated it, I loved it, but it had to go. We then got a 2006 black/black e90 sedan. We had that one for almost 2 years, but she wanted an SUV (2012 Kia Sorento). That was the only time since 2005 that we have not had a BMW and it only lasted about 6 months before I picked up our first coupe. It was a rebuilt, but it was cheap and needed work. Perfect for me as I need a project to keep me busy.
Then last year after the wife went back to school to get her degree I told her that we needed to decrease our vehicle costs, so we ended up selling the Sorento and getting our first ZHP. It took me almost 2 months to find one that suited us. Had to be black/black, auto(her requirement, which she kicks herself now for wanting) and in good condition. We scoured the internet every day with no luck. I then went looking on craigslist on a Wednesday and found one (2004 sedan, 79k) in Kansas City. She flew out there Friday and looked at it Saturday. It was ours, but we had to wait two weeks to get for the guy to get his paperwork straight and warranty refunded. I then flew out and picked it and drove it back. So far we've added clears, electric fan conversion. So pretty basic.
Well then while looking for some parts on craigslist for my car I came across a 2005 ZHP SGM/Black, auto with 127k on it. It was wrecked in the front (lights, hood, bumper) and had a rebuilt title. $3300. I didn't mention anything to my wife about it until she found the price in a text on her phone since I can't text on mine. She said, "you are getting that car". I said, "Ok". Needless to say, we have another project. Overall the car is in good condition, but it's been a struggle to get back in one piece due to my work schedule.
I've done all the work on all of our BMW's except for the 2006 e90. The e46's are good mix between new electronic technology and old fashioned mechanics which suits me just fine.
The only question is do I really want to keep 3 cars. I really wished the 2005 was a manual, but for the price I could probably swap it and still come out ahead. Decisions, decisions......
