Hello all,

Name is Andrew and I have somewhat of a e46 BMW addiction, well I guess my wife and I both do. Currently we three of them with two of them being ZHP's. Our BMW life started back in 2005 when we bought a 2001 black/black sedan. After we had it for almost 3 years I convinced the wife to trade it on a 325xi black/black touring. She hated it, I loved it, but it had to go. We then got a 2006 black/black e90 sedan. We had that one for almost 2 years, but she wanted an SUV (2012 Kia Sorento). That was the only time since 2005 that we have not had a BMW and it only lasted about 6 months before I picked up our first coupe. It was a rebuilt, but it was cheap and needed work. Perfect for me as I need a project to keep me busy.
Then last year after the wife went back to school to get her degree I told her that we needed to decrease our vehicle costs, so we ended up selling the Sorento and getting our first ZHP. It took me almost 2 months to find one that suited us. Had to be black/black, auto(her requirement, which she kicks herself now for wanting) and in good condition. We scoured the internet every day with no luck. I then went looking on craigslist on a Wednesday and found one (2004 sedan, 79k) in Kansas City. She flew out there Friday and looked at it Saturday. It was ours, but we had to wait two weeks to get for the guy to get his paperwork straight and warranty refunded. I then flew out and picked it and drove it back. So far we've added clears, electric fan conversion. So pretty basic.
Well then while looking for some parts on craigslist for my car I came across a 2005 ZHP SGM/Black, auto with 127k on it. It was wrecked in the front (lights, hood, bumper) and had a rebuilt title. $3300. I didn't mention anything to my wife about it until she found the price in a text on her phone since I can't text on mine. She said, "you are getting that car". I said, "Ok". Needless to say, we have another project. Overall the car is in good condition, but it's been a struggle to get back in one piece due to my work schedule.
I've done all the work on all of our BMW's except for the 2006 e90. The e46's are good mix between new electronic technology and old fashioned mechanics which suits me just fine.
The only question is do I really want to keep 3 cars. I really wished the 2005 was a manual, but for the price I could probably swap it and still come out ahead. Decisions, decisions......

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Looked over a lot of the site. I'll try and make a progress thread soon. Not sure where to start since I don't take many pics of progress.

ranger, I pass through Canton quite a bit. At least once a month since I take 369/575/75 down to Dobbins for Reserve duty.

Well, I go to Dobbins (actually Clay National Guard Center) every day as I am fulltime GA Army National Guard. I drill at FT Benning GA where I command a unit. Small world. You need to join the GA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD unit - I just built them a new facility in Cumming.

10('96-'06) years Navy Active Duty, so rather than start anew I joined the USNR 3 years ago. I'm in a unit that works well with my job since I can do my 2 weeks any time I want to. Back when I was a teenager I spent a weekend out with a FL Nat'l Guard unit. Something about sleeping in a truck and eating MRE's just didn't suit me, so I decided to enlist to go on submarines. Loved ALMOST every minute of it........

Benvenutto a la famiglia Andrew. I had a 323i at one time; it was good to me. I retired from the Army in SEP 12 after 30 years. The US Army is the BEST organization in the world. Hooah!

Spent 4 years on the 738 (Maryland). Then shore duty as an instructor at TTF Kings Bay. Had orders to the 729 (Georgia) while it was being converted to an SSGN with the intent to re-inlist, but medical stuff came up and I was de-nuc'ed (EM1/SS) and de-sub'd. Didn't want to go to the surface fleet as a conventional electrician, soooo... I got out.

Finally got the 2005 all done week before Thanksgiving. Only thing I am waiting on to be able to drive at anytime is a ballast. Umnitza dropped the ball on a warranty replacement. Sent it the 11th and it will be almost a month until I get the replacement in hand. I have a lot of patience, but they have about worn that thin. They apparently had one and were going to ship it around the 18th. I sent another email last week because I still didn't have it. Then they take 3 days to respond and say they are awaiting a shipment of them and they won't be until the end of this week. So, yeah, 1 month is about here.

Besides that, I just need to get the front bumper a little more aligned.
