Hi, guys! My name is Monroe, and I just (two weeks ago!) purchased the ZHP from this (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?11132-FS-2004-BMW-330-Ci-grey-blk-6MT-8-950-Lenoir-NC) thread, which Shawn spotted even though it wasn't listed as a ZHP and posted in the forum classifieds (thank you!). It's a silver grey coupe, 6 speed, with ~140k miles on it. The car is still in North Carolina, where my dad kindly picked it up for me, and I won't get to meet it until next weekend when my parents come up for a visit and drop it off. I couldn't be more excited to drive it!

I'm coming from a 2000 328i (5spd, sport), which was a wonderful car that I loved until it was totaled several weeks ago by a zoned-out elderly driver in an SUV. I don't have any good pictures of the new ZHP, since it's currently sitting at my parents' house in Durham, but here's one of me with my old car about a year and a half ago, and one of the new one from an iPhone. I'll come up with some better pictures next week!

Welcome! I will be at UMass this weekend for a roadtrip with a few guys from school, although I will be driving a rental dodge caravan (LOL) while I'm waiting for a new window regulator. My window is stuck down so 5h of highway at temps under 35F (here at least) is a no-no. Nice car btw! That was indeed a steal!

I haven't gotten to do a really good drive in it yet, just went a mini test drive and spent most of the day in class, but it's amazing. I expected it to be different from the 328 but it's more different than I expected! Everything feels perfect. I noticed that there's a cf strut bar installed, which my dad didn't mention because he thought it was OEM (it's not, right? Anyway, cool!)

The interior is for the most part in great shape, although there's a loose seam on the driver's seat side bolster that I think I'll probably take to an upholsterer when I'm home over winter break. I love all the little ZHP touches- pretty gauges, black cube trim, M-badged shifter. It's beautiful. I didn't realize that the black leather interior would be different from my old one, but it is- in the 328 the ceiling and pillars were tan instead of all-black. I like the new look better!

The outside also looks good, but there are a few things here and there- there's some clear coat peeling on the front bumper, one corner of the front bumper is a little low like a clip is broken, there's a small rust bubble on one panel, there are a few minor paint scratches, and one of the lenses on the bumper has a slight crack. I saw most of that in the photos and didn't expect any less on a car with 142k miles, but I'll do my best to take care of it all in the next couple of months! While it was in NC my dad went ahead and changed the oil and had new tires put on/an alignment done. It drives like a dream. Didn't get around to taking a nice picture but here's a quick booty snapshot!

Sadly, it is not the BMW performance CF strut bar! You guys had me all excited for a second, haha. It's definitely this one:
http://www.ecstuning.com/News/BMW_E46_ECS_Carbon_Fiber_Strut_Bar_Kit/
Still, even if it's not an incredible freebie, a strut bar was definitely not on the top of my list of things to spend money on for the car, so I'm considering it a nice bonus :) I wonder if there are any other mods waiting to be discovered...

Sunday's probably not good for me since I'll be driving my parents to the airport that afternoon, but some other time! I put some Continental ExtremeContact DWSs on, because I had them on the 328 and liked them. I'm actually in a convenient position where I don't have to drive anywhere in the snow: even my job driving for the school is cancelled when it snows enough to cancel classes (ie enough to overwhelm Rt 9's plows.) But if I end up staying north after I graduate this spring I'll pick up some snows!

Yeah, definitely, I was excited to see it! I'm not sure there's actually an advantage to the weight-saving of carbon fiber, but it does look really nice under the hood :biggrin

I would recommend looking at the classifieds in E46Fanatics, Bimmerforums, and here for a set of Style 68's to buy...you can sometimes get them at a great price, then slap on a set of snow tires on them :thumbsup This is what I ended up doing with my set for my ZHP :biggrin That is if you end up staying up north ;)

That sounds like a good plan.

I put the car through its paces a little tonight on some deserted roads- revved it to the limiter, took some hard turns, tested the brakes, etc. It's kind of silly to say it's the best car I've ever driven because I haven't driven that many cars, but it's by far the best car I've ever driven. Also, it sounds fantastic. Huge grin stuck on my face.

And after I parked and could unstick my face into a normal expression I finally got a chance to look through the folder of receipts&records from the PO's and got the silly grin back again. They not only took great care of this car, they kept meticulous records of everything. I had been told by the guy who inspected it that the DISA was original and it's actually been replaced, and there were a few other things like that. Nothing but good news. :fistpump
