Yum. The only thing that would give me pause is the nav, but there are ways of updating it and keeping it viable, right?

I'm gonna be the fly in the ointment, NO, absolutely not! I dabbled in the e39s a couple of times (we've had 3) but never the M's. The cost of parts on a normal e39 is almost twice that of an e46 because more e46's were sold. Now drift to the even lower production e39M, and welcome to super high priced parts. It doesn't matter if you can DIY, you still have to buy the parts.

NADA, Dane, I couldn't be more emphatic! Cooling system is 3-4X harder & more expensive, front suspension system 2-3X more expensive, rear suspension also more expensive. Don't get me wrong, when they're right they're absolutely fabulous, but not as your daily.

Umm, are you seriously considering this car, DW? If so, know that the color combo on that M5 is STUPID RARE!
And STUPID AWESOME as well!

I'll be it's STUPID EXPENSIVE to boot, being from EAG. lol

EDIT: Just checked the price; yep. Confirmed. :rofl

Since EAG is doing the following preventive maintenance: Preventative Clutch Replacement using Sachs Clutch Kit + Rear Main Seal, Front Brakes (rotors, pads + sensor), upgraded Rogue Engineering Thrust Arm Bushings, Instrument Cluster pixilation corrected by VDO, Seat "Twist" Issue corrected on both front seats. Enthusiast Auto Body has reconditioned the front + rear bumpers correcting minor cosmetic blemishes from parking.

I think the asking price is good for the rarity of this car and the work EAG is putting into her. If you're adding this to your stable then it's the way to go Dane :thumbsup But that's my opinion :) It is a beautiful car for sure! Good luck!!!

I am no E39 expert but just to play devils advocate.....

1. I don't think that steering wheel is correct for this car.

2. I don't see a single Dinan part in the pictures...... Is it all suspension and software?

Just a few things that caught my eye Dane. But definitely let us know how it is in person.

That is the correct steering wheel. 2000s came with the older 3 spoke found in E36 M3s and Z3/M roadsters, 2001+ came with the same 3 spoke found in E46 M3s, ZHPs, etc.

This M5 is sick - can't go wrong with an Individual car.

Dane, I noticed that this ///M has the oval rear view mirror. These types of mirrors are known to fail due to excessive heat exposure and bubble/leak... If you're serious about this car be sure to find out if this mirror has been reconditioned...

The oval rear view mirror in my ///M has been reconditioned by RadarMirror.com.

Ahh gotcha. My friend had a 2000 which was my point of reference.

Thanks for the clarification.

looks sick.

watch out for the Vanos, much more expensive than the E46 and the M5 has two VANOS units.
Also the timing chain tensioner, the can rattle. Easy fix
Carbon build up. Big issue with these cars.. Major PITA.
