Beautiful!!! Welcome to the fam-bam, Brett! Looks like we have similar looking rides!

What are the deets on your ride? Mileage? mods?

Also, what's your VIN? Let's look up your ride in the BMW database for options and such.

Welcome to the crew Brett! Based on the pics you posted, you're off to a VERY good start with the mods. Nice looking car for sure. Sorry I kept your old man on the phone for so long, but it helped pass the time while I installed the strut brace he sent me.

Welcome. I stopped by and saw your dad on Sunday at his place of work. Preston's car is looking very nice as is yours. I love the friendly brotherly (family) competition.

Brett & I pulled his VCG this evening, no leaks but was just starting to get a little hard, good PM. Also replaced the spark plugs and they looked very good too. I was amazed when we had his VC off, not one bit of yellowing of the aluminum valve train, it was like brand new at 78K miles. Looking through the 2 folders of maintenance records, POs changed the oil every 5-7.5K miles and I think this attributed to the pristine valve train.

Also changed the p/s fluid & replaced the p/s cap gasket since we had no idea when that fluid was done last. I may be imagining it but I could swear the noise while idling quieted a little bit with the p/s fluid change, is that possible?

I guess it could, but not sure why it would at idle. Someone more informed could answer. Regardless, I love a good pic of the top of an E46 engine.

Is it totally biased to say that you win the brother-bmw challenge due to your color choice?

Welcome!

Noticed an oil spot under Brett's car today, suspect it's the OFHG, will look to confirm tomorrow. And cooling system refresh was in the cards for this Spring, might as well do it all at the same time.

He also bought Preston's VMR 710s, about time to make the swap, will tell him to post pics when it occurs. KG, I suspect VMRs with sparkling graphite is gonna look gorgeous.

Have some others in the daylight on my phone, IT-challenged dad has to figure out how to get them from there to here.

Finished a cooling system refresh, OFHG replacement, all belts/tensioners/idlers today. Mama is out test pounding it now while I clean up the garage, Brett is in DE at a travel soccer game. Mileage currently sits at 81790, no issues did this as a preventative measure.

Found new upper & lower intake boots, F-connector, & that little vacuum line in the garage today, next time Brett has a day off of soccer/work we'll plan to do a little preventative maintenance on the intake side. Advance Auto sells that Fel-Pro gasket for the DISA, gotta remember to pick up one of those.

And this old dog learned a new trick this week. Normally buy my parts from Fairfax BMW, pointed out to them the cooling system refresh kit and tensioners/belts/idlers kits from Tischer was cheaper than their on-line 20% off list pricing. Fairfax acknowledged it, ponied up, not only matched prices but beat Tischer's prices, FTW!!!
