While I was messing around last weekend, I took a peek at the spare and noticed that it has never been mounted. The specification sheet states that it should be at 61 PSI and there's not a chance that it would hold this pressure after 8 years. Unsurprisingly, it was only at 21 PSI when I checked it out. :facepalm So something to check next time you get a chance and avoid getting a nearly-flat spare in case of a flat. :cigar

The solution is to just carry a tire pressure guage and a air pump in your car. It fits perfectly where the spare is...

What size spare are you guys running? My car never came with a spare....

I'm looking at a space saver or an extra 135m wheel.

I'd like to know what size tire/wheel will fit. I bought one from Bruce that we both thought for sure would fit, but the cover/lid/thing would not lay flat.

225 will fit flat.

The plastic piece or the trunk mat?

The spare on my e90 is run-flat, so I don't worry too much about it. And I topped off the Mini's spare 10 days ago.

Yes, sir. My 2005 Mini is the "Base" model and it comes with spare. While shopping, I noticed the "S" model have no spare.

Hadn't physically checked, but would a donut spare work on a lowered car? I put a 225 in my spare and the trunk cover doesn't fit. I guess i could keep a portable compressor with a flat 225, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Might just go back to a donut.

8" or 8.5" rim?

My spare is on an 8, but I have 8.5 all the way around on the ground.

The plastic piece or the trunk mat?

Both, but the mat is the part that bothered me.

Pft, I've put a 245/45/17 in the rear almost perfectly :)

I could have sworn I put a front 135 in there. I dunno.
