Hey all,
Another one of my current projects is redoing my car's headliner.
I removed the pillars and their sagging felt, but there is still almost an entire layer of black fuzzy material still left on the plastic. It's not glue... I can't even see the glue yet. I can't even get my nails under it to peel it off!
How do I get this sh!t off??
Thank you much!

Have fun. You will need some type of industrial adhesive remover. Maybe if you soak it down with Goof Off/Goo Gone, it might work.

Why do you need to get it off? Can't you just apply new "felt" over it? I just repaired my c-pillars yesterday. They were not peeled all the way off, but I did peel back enough to get spray adhesive under a good portion of it.

I have to get the stuff off because it's all uneven and, for lack of a better word, furry. The new felt won't adhere properly.
So, what did I do wrong?? I want to recover in suede/alcantara. How do other people strip the pillars down to recover them? I want the pillars to match the headliner of course!

I found a few threads on e46f, but not a direct answer to your question.

I used V&S 1081 Spray adhesive which I had from sound deadening another car.
