View Full Version : coby interior ideas?

So I had this extra M3 steering wheel laying around that could use a rewrap so I figured why not give coby wheel a try? At first I was just going to do the wheel in oem grey alcantara/grey stitching with a yellow 12:00 stripe but then I came across his summer deal thats $225 for the wheel and shift/ebrake boots. I figured since I was doing the wheel, I might as well do the boots for that price.

Then the idea of doing the wheel oem grey/tri-stitch & yellow 12:00 stripe and the boots red/blue stitch came along. As of now thats what I'm stuck on but I was wondering what it would look like installed.

Im not sure if I'll get tired of those colors in the future and if I should just stick with grey stitching or something simple. I also ordered the performance shift knob so I kind of want everything to flow together.

If anyone has any pics or ideas, feel free to post and share :thumbup

What is your car's color combo? IR, right? Interior?

If I were going to do one for my car (Ir/alcantara), I would do black alcantara with red stitching and a red stripe. And then red stitching on the boots.

Personally I like matching the red accents more than the tri stitch on a red car. I think Charlie did something along those lines with his ZHP

I have black leather for now, hopefully i'll come across an alcantara set soon. I never thought about the red stitching & stripe, thought it would be too much red.

Mike at Coby said that people with red cars usually do red stitching though

I know where to get full sedan Alcantara but it will probably be pretty expensive to ship

Not Coby Wheel, but William and I went w/tri-stitch wheel, shift boot, ebrake handle. He took it a step further and did tri-stitch center console leather thingy. :)

Looks good. I like the perf leather wheel.

Here's a link I found for the alcantara interior:

Not sure if that's the one you were talking about or not though.

Would it be necessary to check if the Alcantara seats are heated or folding before getting them? Not sure if it matters to purchaser, but throwing it out there.

Yes it all matters. I was talking to Jon last night a bit and reminded him to do so... Hopefully it works out for him.

Yeah I know lol. I spoke to them yesterday just to check the condition and see if they were heated or not & to make sure it didnt have the foldable rear seat.

I just hope they're clean with no odors

Also make sure that they're not excessively worn. Closeups of the bolsters would be best. Also, make sure there are no holes, either.

I decided to go with the oem grey/tri stitch w/ yellow 12:00 stripe & matching shift/e-brake boots that are scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

My performance shift knob came in a couple days ago so I figured i'd just wait and install everything all at once. I'm also having my headliner & b/c pillars redone tomorrow so i'll update you guys with pics when everything is complete :thumbup

Well I just got done installing the boots. I installed the wheel first but then I ran out of time to do the boots because I was heading to a car meet. Here's a few pics, not the best but I'll take some better pics with my dslr when I get a chance.

I went with a suede headliner instead of the oem cloth which turned out nice IMO.

Everything looks really good. I really like the stitching on the boots. I hardly use my e-brake, but when I do it feels like heaven. You should look into the alcantara e-brake as well!

Yeah I was thinking about doing the ebrake handle too, maybe I'll do it soon.

Lol I meant to clear that the other day. It threw some codes when I was fixing my valve cover gasket and cleaned my intake.

Wow Jon, really like the headliner. Can't wait to get it home and check it out in person. What did that cost you? Also, the wheel and boots look good. I would've done the ///M stitch on the boots too, but that's just me. The tri-color stitch is a good look, a little more subtle. Looks great man...

Thanks joop. The headliner + b & c pillars came out to $475 at this local upholstery shop. The previous owner went to them to wrap the a pillars in suede so I figured I'd just reuse them. And yeah, I didn't even think of the difference red/blue vs tri stitch in the boots otherwise I would of went the tri stitch route lol. Oh well.
