My suspension refresh just got about a grand cheaper!!! :roundel

Just add on some control arm bushings, rear trailing arm bushings, shock/strut mounts, and you've got one heck of a deal on a refresh.

I emailed them last October inquiring about it, since it was about half the price of the other retailers. They said it was discontinued.

Hey Alex, thanks for your interest - unfortunately, this part has been discontinued by BMW and is no longer available to order.

Thanks again for keeping us in mind though, and please let me know if you need anything else!

If you've ordered and it ships, let me know - I'll jump on the deal as well!

Bummer!! I've got some time to go before I do my overhaul (considering doing it during the next Mafia meet). I'll let you know.

I just ordered bilstein sport shocks and struts, eibach pro kit springs and a mount kit for my suspension refresh. Was roughly $9xx.

Gotcha. I found this as well on FCP Euro for $689.95 (all the same manufacturers as the Genuine BMW parts):

http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-zhp-suspension-refresh-kit-e46-33500429577kt

It doesn't have the sway bar, I don't think it's a wear item.

I need to find me a deal on ZHP control arms. I am pretty sure mine are still good. I will really be able to know once I change out my shocks/struts. If not, that is the next item on my list to knock out. It is usually 500-600 for the pair though!

Pelican Parts has the pair for ~$400.

Ok so for clarification the Zhp shares the same struts as sports package, but with stiffer ball joints, beefier control arms, and thicker sway bars?

From my research, ZHP shocks and struts are different part numbers.

What Zell said. I read that the springs were the same, but the shocks/struts were different

Well Ill be! And here I was reading the E46fanatics "gods" kept saying springs were just sport springs. Probably to make the car seem less "special." hmph.

I wonder, though...delving more into it, that P/N doesn't come up on RealOEM, and I've seen ECSTuning get some things wrong before.

I'm in the market of a suspension refresh as well, but I've been really considering coil overs.. Instead of spring/shock combo.... Thoughts?

From what I have learned, if you do not plan on tracking the car, coil overs are over kill and quality cost a lot!!! You can get exactly what your looking for with a good set of shocks/struts and springs for cheaper.

If you search that P/N without the KT (kit) after the numbers it will also come up as a single front(?) spring on ECS and other sites. According to the Bimmerfest Wiki though the ZHP and Sport springs were the same length. Also, the swaybars were the same thickness for the Sport and ZHP.

I was always under the impression though that to order springs you need to have a dealer input your Vin into their computer to get the correct weight spring based on options on the car and whether it's a vert, coupe or sedan.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index.php/BMW_E46#ZHP_-_Performance_Package

As far as that package in the original post though, yes that was discontinued a couple of year ago. I was lucky to get one right before they went NLA for $500 shipped from ECS. Hell of a deal considering it came with ZHP front control arms as well as shocks and struts.

I agree. Of course they provide other benefits but for the $$, it's a lot extra for non tracking/rally driving. I did the same analysis and went with H&R, took the money I saved and bought other stuff.

That is true unless you can find a deal. I love the height adjustability of coilovers. I don't use it often but I was able to dial in my ride height to what I thought looked best. That was worth $ to me. Might not be worth it for everyone.

Yup, that's one of those other key benefits I was thinking of outside of handling. Could be worth it just for that, but not really for me. I'll just cruise around in my low, dragging vert. :biggrin

I went with Eibach springs. Pro kit first. Ill ride with it for a few thousands miles. If I feel like I need to go a little lower or stiffer, Ill replace with the sportlines. Yea a whole lot of extra work but Ill save a grand or more getting the same thing accomplished.

So did anyone successfully order the refresh kit? Tischer has it for $474 shipped, and there's nothing saying it's not in stock or is no longer available. That's the same cost as or cheaper than just the control arms by themselves. If my control arms need to be replaced, I'll just order this and sell the stock shocks!

Seems unlikely as most people here are on lowering springs, I see very little replacement with OEM shocks.

Agreed. If your OE shocks are done, why wouldn't you replace with bilstein or koni

The kit was a fire sale iirc. It was worth it because the cost of the control arms alone was what you paid for the complete kit.
