I think CarFax has some feature now where you can look it up by license plate as well. Not sure exactly how that works since plates can migrate between cars (e.g., when my wife's car got wrecked we transferred registration and plates to her new one).

Owner said he traded it to Benchmark Jeep in Birmingham. I called and they have the car. Getting ready to wholesale. They are asking $9500. I spoke to Jason: (205) 588-4383 he said he'd call back with their best price. I guess it would be nice for them to make a cool $2k. Owner would not respond to my questions on the SES/CE light.

If the Jeep dealer is sending the car to auction, I would think it has some problems they are not willing to fix.

Typically a dealership will not retail a car when it has more than 100k on it, regardless of the condition.

Additional info on e46f. Sounds like the owner ignored the interest from a private party and went to the dealer.
