So I need new side markers and I'm considering the Depo LED Bar style units, what do ya'll think?

I'm pretty sure I'm swapping our my smoked corners for clear corners, so Id probably go with the clear version of these side markers. But I'm not 100% sure yet.

I didn't order it last night because I'm debating if I should order the OEM Clear Corners as well.

On the other hand, I picked up a Mother's Clay Bar kit and removed the road paint on the sides of my car, worked like a charm. Now I just need to clean the wheel well's.

Subbing...

Shark fin looks fine to me, but is it functional? Personally if it isn't functional, I wouldn't have it on my car, but thats just me.

As for the auto shift knob, I love the "new" style knob, but it seems like I saw it somewhere on e46F in an e46 (of course) and it just looked way too big/tall, perhaps they didn't have it installed right and/or perhaps there is a way to cut it down to not make it look so out of place. I think an inch shorter would have made all of the difference.

Yea, the fin is non-functional. I loved it on my 335i E92 I had so I figured Id give it a try on the E46. IT was only $6 bucks so... ;)

I wish the car was manual, they're so many awesome manual shift knobs I like it.
I went with Auto just because if my SO ever needs to use my car for pleasure or emergency, she doesn't drive stick.
However I really think the driving experience of the ZHP would be 10x better if it were manual.

Back to the shift knobs, I agree. I think the "new style" knobs sit high on the shifter. I think there's two different versions but the commonly retrofitted knob is the one shown in the photo I posted.

I'm still not sure what knob I'll get but It'll definitely be some sort of OEM BMW knob. Id like to keep it under $100.

I would take this knob if you wanted a plug and play, just plasti-dip the silver bit black.

If you feel like doing some dirty work then totally retrofit an M5 SMG knob... would look sweet in the ZHP interior... I think. :dunno

I do like the new automatic shift knobs. There should be some retrofit work for those on e46f.

Got a few things done today.

- Rear bumper valance wrapped.
- Headlight bezel wrapped.
- Clear headlight protector film.
- Small ZHP emblems installer.
- Bimmian mobile device mount.

I'm not sure if I'm keeping the emblem or not. I wish I got the bigger ones, so I could out them on the left. What do you all think?

I'm pretty happy with the rear bumper valance and head light bezels. It's a bit ricey but it's subtle. Lol

The Bimmian mount definitely causes my trim to be loose

Also my TRS E46 Retro-Quick System projectors arrived. I just need to get some epoxy for the shrouds before I begin.

I plan to do a DIY. Not many people know about this kit, so if it works well then it's a great option for ZKW retrofit.

Supposedly it's a bolt on kit... However it did not come with any institutions, just a bag of hardware.

Diffuser and headlight shrouds look great IMO!

I'm confused about the retrofit, are these for your "flash to pass" center bowls?

I just upgraded to ZKW lenses, love them! If these are to swap out for your current projectors, are there any benefits other than the ZKW lens? The lenses themselves were just $40, wouldn't that have been less expensive? Also, aren't ZKW bowls susceptible to melting?

ZHP headlights typically use a ZKW projector, the bowl is made out of plastic and they get burnt (see below) and reduce your light output.
So I'm retrofitting different projectors that come with a metal bowl. Until recently the retrofit was a custom job that required lots of hacking and cutting, you could pay a shop to do it but it was expensive... So hopefully this kit works well because it's super cheap and supposedly very easy to do.

Are you sure you have burned ZKW bowls and not metal AL bowls already? I realize you have an '04, is there a definitive date on the change? My early early early 2003 has AL headlights and bowls (metal, unmelted) and I just swapped the lenses for ZKW's, $40. I guess you'll find out when you pull them apart!

I'm not sure if there's a definitive time frame to when they used ZKW projectors but I know my light output is horrible, so it's safe to say mine are burnt.
But we'll find out in a few days... lol

Well, you could just get the SB w/o the panel plate, so (a) it could be easily removed, (b) you could keep it installed but turn it off so it wouldn't be a mod and (c) you could use it on another non-M3 E46 if needed. Just offering other suggestions. :biggrin

The holes were drilled wrong on the new pedal or you drilled the holes wrong on the factory pedal? :(

The seller only had one, there's a few others on eBay but not as cheap as the one I got.

So the rear of my car really sinks when theirs 1-2 people in the back seats, so much that my tires rub when I hit a bump... ANNOYING!
The ride height also seems lower in the back but that could be normal, I don't know.

I'm thinking the rear shocks are toast. If I replace the shocks/struts I'm not sure if that will even out the ride height but I wouldnt mind lowering it just a smudge. I hope new rear shocks stiffen up the suspension and helps prevent the tires from rubbing. Rolling the fenders a bit will also help.

Time to do some research on springs/shocks.

I received the dead pedal yesterday and cleaned it up today, It appears it will NOT fit.

There's a coupe/convertible pedal and then a Sedan/Wagon pedal.
Since mine was off of an M3, it's for the Coupe/Convertible.

If it's off of an M3, it will not fit. I learned that the hard way.

In addition to a true M3 pedal, they also have an identical one for the Sedan/Wagon's.

I will most likely put this M3 Kick Panel - Dead Pedal up for sale soon.
My factory kick panel is cracked, so I will just purchase a new M3 pedal for Sedans.

There are plenty of DIY for it actually. I was looking through them since I will be doing the same thing.

The basic stuff is to just replace the ccv and all the hoses with it and the throttle body gasket. If you want to go further, replace the ofhg if its leaking as well as the throttle body boots. Plus clean the iacv and the throttle body and replace the vanos line if it is leaking.

Some people suggest to replace the complete dip-stick tube as well with the updated version.

I think replacing my CCV took 6 hours total, including throttle body gasket and cleaning the IACV and TB and dipstick plus changing the dipstick O-ring. In retrospect, if I'd removed my OFH I might have been able to do it all in 4 hours!

Is $75 a decent price?

Nice!! Hook it up once you get it!

$75 is a decent price. The Button between Speaker & Sport is the TPMS.

Post a photo of the button panel you have currently.

$75 is OK. I've seen them cheaper, but if you're ready to go, just do it.

Got it installed, took a quick test drive and it feels great! I'll drive it more tonight for sure.

You Bet! :thumbsup

I just noticed you live in Harrisburg PA, my Uncle lives there. I use to have relatives in Altoona PA also.

You need the Sport Button Console to complete this Mod right? Does this match yours? Do you have heated seats?

Updated for heated seats. I would buy the first one, it also comes with extra parts. The second one would work if you didn't care the button says "Sport". These are the only two on eBay unless you want to spend $200 which is too much.

You just need to find another one that matches your setup plus one additional button. That button can say anything but the "Sport" button is the coolest mod option.

Roof rack installed but I need to double check the manual and make sure I did it correctly. I didn't notice the bars were different until after I finished, lol.

I need to find time to clean her, she's filthy!

If you flip over the bars, they are marked left and right and front and back.

Nice, thank you! I was rushing because I wanted to install them on my lunch break. I'll go back after work and fix them.

Now I need to find a road bike (fork mount) bike carrier. Maybe I'll just get the BMW cerrier BMW 82722326514 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Bike/ES2644050/)

I went back and corrected the bars. I had the front and rear correct but I had to flip them left to right (around).

I'll probably order a fairing soon. :)

I ordered this bike carrier BMW 82722326514 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Bike/ES2644050/), found a dealer on eBay that had it for $112 shipped. Next is the Thule fairing but those don't seem to ever go on sale or sell for much cheaper then retail, lol.

I'm about to go out and work on the car today, there's something inside my projector thats casting a big weird shadow on the ground and I'm guessing it's behind the lens. Time to investigate, I also want to figure out why my auto leveling doesn't work anymore.

Bike rack has been installed now for a while, I'll probably take it off soon, however, since I live in an apartment I'm not exactly sure where I'll store it.

I got some WeatherTech front mats, I'm really loving them.

The fiancé has been driving the car lately, while hers get some work done. She left the gas cap loose after filling the tank, so now I'm getting a check engine light. The gas cap light was on, which is what notified me that she did not tighten the cap but that's off now.

I could really use some winter wheels and tires!!! I'll probably start looking for those soon, it's probably not best to wait till winter to buy them, lol.

Yeah this rain has been annoying...glad it's clearing up tomorrow. Should be a nice day to clean her up...even though she looks damn good as is!

Yeah, I may wake up early and wash her up. My wheels are the dirtiest they've ever been. I neglected her these past couple months.

Yeah, we got snow last week and it's been raining all week. Tomorrow should be clear.

A month or so ago I was in Vegas for a few days and then drove to Cali. I loved the weather out there!!!

Haha the sign says "OH, Fudge". I got a quart of chocolate turtle, all their ice cream is great though.
