As an editor and photographer for BimmerFile/MotoringFile I'm pleased to join your community.

I can't say I spend a lot of time on forums, but I have been known to contribute and mine their considerable resources in the past. Should I go through with the right ZHP purchase, you may see more of me.

My car history is, for those interested.

03 R53 MINI Cooper S
06 R53 MINI Cooper S
88 E28 535is
11 128i

Dissatisfied with the catastrophic under-steer of the E8X chassis and the numbness of the forthcoming BMW models, a clean ZHP for semi-regular duties should satisfy.

Well I'm sure some of that can be fixed with a square setup and a more aggressive alignment. (or a tune and a heavier foot)

Hi Matt, promise ZHP will not disappoint. Well, I can't really say that, given that I have never driven one. But I do drive a ZSP and it feels quite special to me, triggers my jellies on a daily basis.
Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome.

I've driven the ZHP before. Gabe had one for a few years before moving on to his 1M. This afforded me the opportunity to get some wheel time. It really is a fantastically balanced machine. In my opinion, the ideal balance for daily and spirited driving. If I have any criticism, it could use a LSD and maybe 10 more hp. If I get one, I'll daily it until I get an i3, or M235i - at which point I'll likely store or 3-season it. The era of the analog BMW and pure M car died with the last E9X M3. Technology and regulation moves on and so will the world - certainly digital cars will improve and become the norm. In this new world one needs to have the best analog car available. If E28 parts weren't unobtainium, and the hydraulics a catastrophe, I'd still have mine.

As for the E8X understeer. It does. It's engineered into the chassis, if we're honest into (almost) all BMW chassis that aren't M cars. To say nothing of the ridiculously slow rack - endlessly scrambling at the wheel to get round a corner. Sure it can be hustled with judicious throttle, but by then the fronts are washed away and scrubbing away the shoulders. One of the great things about the new 3 is it's engineered neutral at the chassis level - switch off the DTC and it's balanced - too bad about the EPS though.

Welcome to the family! There are plenty of members here that will take a look at a ZHP for you. Good luck on the hunt!

Yup, +10 is easy with an intake, a tune, maybe pulleys, maybe an exhaust. Add headers and for sure you are past there. Just the BMW Performance Intake alone is +7 - +10, even though it's listed at +3. You might not notice +10 much. You would with headers. Also, you could get a Sprint Booster or equivalent that changes the feel of the throttle and makes the car more fun/responsive to drive. Then of course, there is forced induction, but that's a whole 'nother ballgame.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Does anybody know whether a member would be able to look at a car for me? I'm considering this one from NYC, but being from Chicago, it'll be something of a leap-of-faith to buy without personally seeing first.
