I recently bought a 2005 Imola Zhp and it needed the front bumper resprayed. A week before I was to take it to the body shop, someone hit my rear bumper. So I had the bumpers redone and the paint didn't match. I took it back, they painted them again and still didn't match. They said their "paint specialist" was there for a whole day trying to mix up the right color.
Has anyone had their Imola cars repaired and has the paint matched?

They said that they scanned another panel on the car and came up with 2 shades of the color. The first time the bumpers were too light. Now they are too dark. They told me that age can cause it to not match, but the rest of the car doesn't seem to be faded. This is supposedly one of the best body shops in town. The paint match looks worse in person compared to these pics

Also keep in mind it'll never be perfect.

Yea I know. But this is obvious. The bumpers look cherry red where as the body has a slight pink color in some lights. I'll try to get a better pic.

They may do better just by using the coded paint.

Paint matches can be near-perfect. I'd find a different painter.

The official color code you need to respray your car is 300.

Alpine white is my second choice but red will always be first.

I don't know much about paint and body work, but I'm glad that I'm not expecting the impossible. Every time I walk by the car it draws my attention to the mismatched colors.

Yea, but even he notices the color difference. And that's saying something.

Went back to the body shop. They were telling me how red fades and how it will never match really close. Then I showed him a paint stick that I painted with BMW touch up paint that is imola red and showed him that it matches pretty close. Now I have to bring it back on Tuesday so the paint specialist can look at it.

They can always do a blend.
