Got my v2 canbus and harness....but....wrong harness. I specified round pins and 2003....what do you want to bet I'm going to be told I either have to buy the right harness or ship back the wrong one at my own expense first?

You are just having no luck with these guys.

Zero...."Susan" even asked me specifically about the harness, said it's very important and I made it as clear as day...never thought they'd get it wrong after that conversation we had.

That's weird, I just got my new Can Bus and it came with both wiring harness's.

Got it installed and everything works as it should, no more random input on start up. Also the Bluetooth A2DP links up faster. The screen still dims when the lights are turned on, was hoping the buttons would also but no luck.

The 90 degree iPod cable worked great! Also went with another antenna cable and the install was smooth. Fits perfect now!

Also made a Eonon 5150 Intall to help others on a smooth install. Link is in my Sig.

I'm still waiting for my V2 Can Bus, my guess is it'll be here any day now.

I'm trying to load some video files onto a thumb drive to play in the car, any idea what file formarts work?
I tried M4V and MP4 so far but they did not work.

AVI and Dvix are pretty big, I hope those are not the only two supported formarts.

Been almost two weeks now and Eonon hasn't responded to my e-mails. I'm on the lookout for any 2001 or older owners that have the v2 round pin harness they wouldn't mind shipping me since it seems Eonon just can't seem to make things right.

Can you all confirm for me what harness you used, the round pin or flat pin?

My 2003 harness is using the round pins..which appears to be what is more commonly used on the 2001 and older models. Really confused by this one...

Flat pins are not for E46, I believe.

I think they are, just not for those with "premium" sound systems....I think that's the "business cd" unit that we all have with ZHPs. The other 2002+ non premium sound system vehicles are flat pin. At least that's what I think to be the case.

Regardless, Eonon has admitted they didn't have the correct information on their site. They've offered to ship me a replacement harness but require I ship my flat pin harness back to them on my dime, as predicted.

Less than ideal but for the small cost of shipping, I'm ready to have this done. It's like pulling teeth to get these folks to do anything in a timely manner.

I just installed an Eonon to my buddys e46, and I have to admit, its better than what I currently have on my ZHP, an Enco unit...

Looks like it has higher screen resolution, Bluetooth streaming is crispier, phone book actually shows contacts, and of course the new Canbus fixed the annoying issues... other than those, they are basically the same... and yeah, interface is better on Eonon...

only negative to me is the knob/button lighting, Enco is more BMWish, Eonon is too red...

im thinking of selling my Enco and buy an Eonon, haha...

Thanks for the input JJD. Non-Nav OEM car? PITA scale of install?

Yes, my zhp and buddy's 325 both doesnt have oem nav. Installation was a breeze for my Enco, Eonon has this bundle of wires at the back that makes it tougher to sit flush. Plus the radio antenna cable. After some wiggling and some pushing, we got it to sit flush.

iPhone 5 Test
I purchased an Apple 30 Pin to Lighting adapter. The phone does charge and plays the music from your phone. It does show the correct song that is playing. I tried changing the songs via the steering controls and it was intermittent. About every 4 pushes of the button it would change. Then after about 5 minutes of testing all the functions the screen goes BLUE! Everything froze and a warning appeared in Chinese! I shut down the unit and restart, same screen. Unplugged the iPhone 5 and restart the unit, same. Removed the Nav SD card and restart the unit, back up and running.

I was gonna get the iPhone 5s until testing this out.

I wonder if charging the phone over heated the power supply in the eonon?

I guess it's possible although it was only plugged in for 5 minutes.

So I will be finalizing my installation this weekend. I realized today after talking to some techs that I burned out the reverse switch on the tranny so that's why I haven't been able to get the reverse camera to signal to the eonon unit. This also will be fix on Saturday!

Such delay since I first purchase the head unit but all in all I can't wait for everything to be finish! I also ended painting the trim like in BP's DIY thread. Looks amazing on silver grey.

I emailed Eonon about it and they sent me the link to a firmware update but I haven't installed it yet. I don't even know what the changes would be with this update.

https://docs.google.com/a/sbo2.net/file/d/0B6a7b4QtMCOReklSS1haQkJ5bXM/edit?usp=drive_web

Anyone tried this yet? Curious what this addresses?

I "tried" installing my Eonon when I was at Kyle's OBX meet the other weekend with disappointing results. Jeff was a big help and can also comment/elaborate on what he observed.

My ZHP has the OE Navigation system so its much more involved to get this to work. No wonder there are very few (OEM nav equipped cars) who have done this retrofit.

The 5M cable I ordered "for my car" did not work when it was all run and connected. Furthermore, the radio antenna connection on Nav equipped BMWs are not in the dash but in back where the BM53 radio unit is installed under the MkIV Navi computer.

There were no radio antenna connections in the 5M cable harness....

Adding to my frustration, I tried to power on my "installed" Enon deck... nothing happened. It did look good installed but there was no power. I rechecked all the connections verifying everything was connected on the harness and tried again....still nothing.

At that point, I decided to retain all my OE Navigation equipment and reinstalled everything and gave my Eonon deck to Jeff so he could install it into Heather's ZHP for her birthday present (pic shown below)
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/16/usagy6ug.jpg

Looking back at everything I did during my install attempt, it occurred to me that the Dynavin/Eonon systems are more geared towards cars that did not come with the OEM Navigation system. The 5M cable harness is a hit or miss as far as I'm concerned. With everything said, I will be staying with my OE setup.

Thanks Charlie. I've been pondering this (and was hopeful) as an option for my (son's) car that has OEM Nav. Guess we'll have to live with stock Nav. HU.

To be honest, after what I went thru trying to install this the other weekend....I won't ever do this to an OE Nav equipped BMW again.

That's okay Gary....the Eonon I had went to a great home where an entire family will enjoy it. It's in a ZHP to boot so all is not lost...
