HDR photos have always taken stage when it comes to dramatizing a still picture. I took a few pictures and decided to play around with photoshop. Came out with some cool effects that make the pictures pop.
But, I want to see everyone post their favorite HDR photos. I'll start!

Gotta agree: a bit heavy-handed on the HDR dial, IMO. The last two look pretty good, in a very artistic, surreal kinda way.
Here's one of my earlier dabblings in (light) HDR (really wish I had a non-HDR comparison to go with it):

I'll throw this out there...
Shoot HDR till you are blue in the face but it takes an incredible amount of refinement to make it look realistic and just a bit more surreal to give it the dynamic range everyone wants. The super over processed does nothing for me, I had a teacher in art school who all he shot was HDR and processed it to it's limits, I determined he was actually just making up for not properly exposing his photos.
Keep in mind HDR doesn't always need to be pushed as far as you think it does to look "dynamic". There are also other methods of getting the same look without needing to bracket your exposures. The shadow/highlight tool in PS is one of them, but overdone it looks like crap (at least to me). Another is LucisArt3ED filter pack, which I use from time to time at about a 15% opacity on some stuff for more detail. However, a well done photo, processed properly can look more dynamic than a mediocre HDR. Take some of Mark's work for instance. He gives his stuff some pretty high dynamic range yet does not shoot HDR's. I personally will still stand by my opinion that if you spend more time refining the actual principles of photography used to shoot, the photos will look WAY better than just slapping HDR processing on and trying to go for the shock factor with.

True!
Though this process is a little new to me - I sure wanted to pick this up as a pass time between business and pleasure.
So far this is what I'm shooting with:
Nikon d3000
18-55mm starter kit lens
no name tripod
EDITING:
Adobe CS6 Master Collection. I haven't explored all the programs yet, but apparently there are a few programs that can help balance out the lighting and give a realistic effect rather than the over-processed look.
Cheers!
