Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has found a phone mount for larger phones such as an iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S5/S6. I was looking at the Bimmian/Panavise mounts but found that they don't fit larger phones. I would like to avoid using a suction cup mount on the dash as I don't want to leave any marks on the dash, and I would like to avoid using an AC mount as I don't like having the vents covered.

You are going to have to combo it: Bimmian for the dash mount, Proclip for the phone. Mount the Bimmian dash mount to the dash, then mount an appropriate Proclip phone holder for your phone to the Bimmian mount.

I use this little thing that clamps on to an air vent vein... http://www.amazon.com/Tetrax-72008-Smartphone-Cellphone-Magnetic/dp/B0030IMXEU/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1457573775&sr=1-4&keywords=tetrax

All you put on your phone is a little magnetic button (I have a lifeproof fre case on my iPhone 6 and it works well in both my zhp and my e61. Although it does cover a little bit of the vents, I offset them just to the left in the winter where I don't necessarily need air in my face and then to the right when I want cooling hitting me up high.

This is what I use. I really like the setup. One downside is there is a slight buzz over rougher roads that I have yet to eliminate. Need to figure that out. It looks like this in my car (although I have since painted the bolts):

I bought this since my iphone 6 wouldn't fit with the stock Bimmian mount and didn't feel like spending more for a different one. Can't beat it for 8 smackers. Don't like it, give it to a friend. I put the super thin metal backing plate between the outer shell of my case and and the phone so no need for any adhesive. You can give a light toss and it'll catch the phone. Very powerful magnet but soft mount so it doesn't damage the vent.

I noticed on the magnetic mounts. Just curious that they will not work if your phone is wrapped in a phone case....which I use on my S6. And I don't intend to stick a metal plate on the case.

Hmm...guess it depends on the case, but I haven't had any issues.

The beauty of the Tetrax I posted earlier is it's utter simplicity and a very unobtrusive button on the back of the phone (or my case, the case).

way too busy for me, but i do like that NAV unit - is that an eonon?

All viable options, but three things I wouldn't do:

1) Block the air vents - living in the south I don't want anything in the way for the AC

2) Strong magnet near the phone - sensitive electronics, especially involving the GPS circuitry, and magnets, I wouldn't chance it.

3) Glass mounts - decreased visibility of the road

It may be busy, but it's almost infinitely adjustable, to any position you like. It can be extended close to you, or far from you, up, down, left, right, tilted, etc. Let's not forget that it's a RAM mount, so it will last for a very long time.

Yes, the head unit is an Eonon GA5150.

All of which are reasons why I chose the setup I did. I love the concept of the magnetic mounts, but I hate having something sticking out the back of my phone case because the phone doesn't sit flat on any surface with it attached, completely defeating the purpose of my silicone case.

yeah, dude! it's a RAM mount! LOL. sounds funny. :)

i often have a passenger, be it my wife or my daughter (she's 12 now, she can sit in the front seat - weird!!), and while the position of that mount makes sense for the driver, i have to believe it would be claustrophobic for the passenger...

thanks. gotta look into that.

I use the Core360 attached to my Bimmian mount. Very simple method of attaching the phone and you don't see it when the phone is attached... works for me :thumbsup

Didn't like the vent mount huh?

I swear by this one on my last 3 cars. Yes it covers part of your vent but I seriously ride solo 97% of the time anyway so whatever.

I liked the Qugi for the price and ease of install. Didn't like two hand install/removal (I know it can be done though) of phone and the unsteadiness of the install into the vent.

And for those with newer iPhones you have to be careful with placement do to the power and volume buttons on the sides.

Yet another reason i moved to the magnet mount...

To address your concerns.....

1: I too live in the south (Cumming, GA just north of Atlanta)....setting the Tetrax either towards the center or to one end of the air vent means that basically only half the phone blocks the vent....in the summer, I keep it towards the center (as in my photo on an earlier post) where the half of the vent still blows on me...come winter, where I don't necessarily want air blowing on me, I relocate it to the end of the vent closest to me so as to only block that half.

2: I too worried about the magnet. The button on the phone is non-magnetic. Obviously the magnet is on the air vent clamp....nonetheless, there's been no affect to my iPhone 6 that I have had for the last two years with it.

3: I agree.

FWIW....it's been the cheapest, least obtrusive way to carry my iPhone in my BMWs. If you'd like, I can post photos of it in my ZHP since the photos I posted were in my e61. LMK.

I have a 6+ (in a case) and I can take it off with 1 hand, no real problems with the buttons either. :dunno

Doesn't block the vent? You Yankees might not understand how hot it gets down here in Dixie! ;-) I need my vents!!

Lol. It blocks 1/2 of the passenger vent which makes the other side blow a little harder anyway [emoji6]
